New AALA Chapter is formed! The Virgin Islands, St. Thomas/St. John Cluster, announce the installation of officers for their newly formed chapter. On January 23, 2005, the Virgin Islands African American Lutheran Association (VIAALA) will begin a new chapter in the histories of two of the oldest congregations in the ELCA with the formation of the first AALA chapter in the Caribbean! Members of Frederick Evangelical Lutheran Church, St. Thomas, founded in 1666 and Nazareth Lutheran Church, St. John, founded in 1720, and the Lutheran Church of the Reformation founded in 1967 have combined to form the new chapter.
